Thomas, the protagonist in Maze Runner, is a prime example of a Christ-like figure. He first arrives through a massive, dark elevator, with no memory of anything except his name. He is almost reborn, in a sense. We later learn that Thomas was apart of the creation of the maze, and then had his memory wiped and was sent to the Glade. Thomas was reborn essentially, he arose from this elevator, which is reminiscent of cave, as a new man, reborn. Then, after he arrives at the glade Thomas rises among the ranks of the Gladers, soon becoming a Runner, one of the most important jobs.
The boys basically worship him for his talents, and he is still humble about it all. Thomas then sacrifices himself for the betterment of the community, allowing himself to be stung by a monster called a Griever in order to get his memories back. Thomas then proceeds to lead the boys to their salvation, helping them escape the maze, and reach the promise land. Thomas is one of the most selfless characters in the books, and is constantly looking out for the needs of other over his own. For example he runs out into the maze in order to save a boy named Alby, risking his own life for Alby's. Thomas is also nice and considerate to a younger boy that no one else is, named Chuck. Chuck is essentially Thomas' first "disciple", if you will. He is the first of the Gladers to worship Thomas, and they develop a very unique relationship.
Thomas is comparable to John from Brave New World as well. John is a Christ-like figure as well. John sacrifices himself, and his body for the society his is brought into as well. Both him and Thomas know what needs to be done for the society they live in, and make sacrifices accordingly. Thomas and John both preach to their societies about what is wrong with whats going on, and how to fix it. The only difference between them is that John is unsuccessful in leading his society to a better place, whereas Thomas is able to save his people.
